A pair of Canadian .800 silver 50-cent coins. The obverse of each specimen features the laureate portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Mary Gillick, with the circumscribed legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA. The 1956 coin reverse displays the 1921 version of the Canadian Coat of Arms, inscribed 50 CENTS at the top and CANADA 1956 at the base. The 1961 coin reverse displays the modified 1957 version of the Canadian Coat of Arms, incorporating the motto A MARI USQUE AD MARE on a scroll. The central design is flanked by the inscriptions CANADA and 50 CENTS, with the date 1961 positioned at the top. Both coins are struck with reeded edges. Condition: Both coins are in circulated condition. The 1956 specimen shows moderate wear to the high points of the portrait and heraldic details, with numerous surface contact marks and light toning. The 1961 specimen displays light circulation wear with some original lustre remaining in the protected areas of the design and fewer surface marks.
