A pair of Canadian 50-cent coins issued in 1966, struck in .800 fineness silver. The obverse of each coin features the Machin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, wearing a tiara, with the circumscribed legend ELIZABETH II D G REGINA. The reverse displays the 1957 version of the Canadian coat of arms, featuring a lion and a unicorn as supporters for a central shield, surmounted by a crown and crest. The legend is arranged around the rim with 50 CENTS on the left and CANADA on the right. The date 1966 is positioned at the base, split by the lower element of the arms. A floral sprig of maple leaves and clover is situated at the top of the design. The motto ribbon at the base reads A MARI USQUE AD MARE. Both specimens feature reeded edges. Condition: Both coins exhibit original mint lustre with light handling marks consistent with a high state of preservation, ranging from extremely fine to uncirculated. One specimen shows significant peripheral toning in shades of gold and grey on the reverse. Both coins are free of any significant scratches, dents, or signs of cleaning.
