This porcelain lidded stein features detailed painted scenes and regimental insignia for 93rd Royal Bavarian Infantry Regiment, referencing service years 1901-1903. The lid is constructed of pewter, topped by a figural soldier holding a cup, and embossed with crossed weapons, laurel, and military equipment. The stein body displays two heraldic lions accompanying the Bavarian coat of arms, with polychrome scenes depicting soldiers in camp and on parade. Hand-applied script lists names of regiment members. The base interior shows a molded lithophane scene visible when held to light, likely representing two figures. There are visible cracks to the base and rim, but the painted inscriptions remain legible. Measures: 11.5" in H x 12.5 in diameter. This example typifies commemorative military steins from early 20th-century Bavaria. PM
