This is an exceptional mid-century modern studio art bowl by renowned American enamellist Herbert "Herb" Friedson. Crafted during the 1950s, this heavy copper bowl showcases a stunning abstract design consistent with mid-century art. The underside features the classic counter-enamel coating and bears Friedson's authentic hand-inscribed signature in gold script exclusively for Nina and Ed Skuller. They were prominent mid-century art collectors, patrons, and cultural figures originally based in the Buffalo, New York area. Knowing that this piece was explicitly commissioned for or gifted to them adds significant historical provenance to the bowl.Measures: 11.25 inches diameterThe dish is in excellent vintage condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, or repairs to the enamel surface. The colors are bright and the gloss is well-preserved. There is minor shelf wear to the underside base.
