A single-treadle horizontal spinning wheel of Saxon-style construction, manufactured from turned hardwood with a clear honey-brown varnished finish. The assembly features a large multi-spoke drive wheel mounted between two upright supports, connected to the foot treadle by a wooden pitman rod. The mother-of-all assembly carries two turned maidens supporting a flyer with metal hooks and one bobbin. The bench is shaped with decorative bevelling and is supported by three splayed, turned legs integrated into a triangular stretcher base. The hardware includes modern metal axle fittings and tensioning components consistent with mid-to-late 20th-century production. Height approx. 35.5 inches (approx. 90 cm) to the top of the wheel rim, measured against a visible tape measure. Condition: The spinning wheel is missing its drive band. The wooden pitman rod is currently secured to the footrest with non-original white cord. The wooden surfaces show light dust and minor scuffs consistent with domestic storage. The mechanism appears to rotate freely but is mechanically untested for spinning.
