A 19th-century country pine dry sink, also known as a dough bin or baker's trough cabinet, of one-piece construction. The upper section features a deep, rectangular open utility well or trough positioned beside a raised flat work surface. The base consists of a two-door cupboard opening to reveal a single fixed interior wooden shelf, providing two tiers of storage. The piece is constructed from stained pine and fitted with simple turned wooden knobs and iron butt hinges. It stands on a plain plinth base with a slight arch to the front rail. A circular aperture is present to the rear of the internal shelf. Dimensions (measured against a tape measure): approx. H 83 cm x W 121 cm x D 55 cm. Condition: The cabinet exhibits signs of age-related wear including surface scratches, scuffs, and minor indentations throughout the woodwork. There is water marking and staining to the interior of the well and shelves, consistent with its utilitarian origins. The doors and hinges remain in functional order. The piece is in solid structural condition and free of any apparent active woodworm.
