An antique manual clothes wringer identified as the Monarch model, mounted on a corresponding folding wooden stand. The wringer features a sturdy hardwood frame, likely maple or birch, with two horizontal rollers designed to express water from wet laundry. The unit is operated by a manual metal hand-crank and includes adjustable tension screws at the top to control pressure between the rollers. The rollers are constructed of vulcanised rubber on metal shafts. The wringer is mounted onto a purpose-built folding wooden stand with simple turned and squared supports. The top crossbar features the brand name MONARCH printed in black over green paint. The lower wooden board bears the inscription: THIS WRINGER HAS GENUINE RUBBER ROLLS VULCANIZED TO THE SHAFTS PUT A LITTLE OIL OR LARD ON THE BEARINGS BEFORE USING AND LOOSEN TOP SCREWS WHEN THE WRINGER IS NOT IN USE. Functional hardware including the crank, clamps, and tension screws is made of cast iron. Dimensions (measured against a ruler): H approx. 43 in x W approx. 18 in. Condition: The item is in good, original antique condition. The wooden components show surface wear, dust, and light staining consistent with age and domestic use. The vulcanised rubber rollers exhibit significant surface crazing and cracking, typical for natural rubber of this age. Metal components show a dark surface patina and minor oxidation. The mechanical operation is untested.
