AVAILABLE FOR SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > A substantial vintage Woodcroftery turned hardwood bowl, consistent with the cherry wood commonly associated with the firm's production, standing 3.75" tall and measuring a slightly oval 13" x 12.5", with a solid weight of 2 lbs. The broad bowl is formed from a single substantial piece of hardwood with a smoothly turned interior, rounded exterior and gently rolled rim. Natural grain remains visible throughout beneath the warm amber-brown finish, giving the piece the simple utilitarian character associated with mid-century American wooden kitchenware and table service. The underside retains the faint factory stamp reading MADE IN AMERICA ~ Woodcraftery ~ FOR AMERICANS, confirming production by Woodcraftery. Comparable marked bowls and household wares identify Woodcraftery as an American manufacturer of turned wooden kitchen and decorative goods, including salad bowls, serving bowls, firkins and other household forms. Woodcraftery operated in Wayland, New York, with online historical references placing the firm’s production from 1935 through 2009. The company was known for turning household and kitchen articles from solid wood, with surviving pieces frequently retaining the distinctive Made in America ~ Woodcraftery ~ For Americans stamp. The large scale and deep rounded form make this well suited as a salad bowl, fruit bowl, centerpiece or rustic kitchen display, while the substantial solid-wood construction gives it considerably more presence than lightweight modern wooden bowls. CONDITION REPORT > As discovered, not cleaned or altered. Finish exhibits scattered surface wear, rubbing and marks consistent with age, use and long-term storage.
