AVAILABLE FOR SHIPPING or LOCAL PICKUP > A substantial gathering of vintage white and ivory table linens housed in a woven wicker basket measuring 18" long x 13" wide x 6" deep. The linens alone weigh around 5 lbs., representing a large assortment of napkins and related small table linens accumulated and stored together over many years. The group includes numerous white and cream linen pieces in varying sizes and styles, with examples displaying hand embroidery, floral motifs, scalloped borders, lace or cutwork details, drawn-thread style decoration, hemmed edges and white-on-white needlework. Several pieces incorporate small colored floral accents in blue, green, pink and red, while others retain the understated all-white presentation traditionally associated with formal table linens. Vintage linen napkins and small table linens were produced in a wide range of decorative techniques, from simple hemstitched examples to more elaborate hand embroidery, cutwork and lace-trimmed forms. Such linens were traditionally reserved for formal dining, luncheons, tea service, holidays and entertaining, and many estate groups survive with limited evidence of actual table use because they were carefully laundered, pressed and stored between occasions. The oval woven wicker basket is fitted with paired swing handles and provides both storage and presentation for the collection. CONDITION REPORT > As discovered, not cleaned or altered. Linens are rather well preserved overall but have been long stored and are in need of laundering, with typical age-related toning, scattered spotting or storage discoloration possible throughout. Basket exhibits condition issues from age and use as shown.
