Chinese Blanc-de-Chine Style Guanyin with Child Porcelain Figure. Dimensions: 12 inches H × 5.5 inches W × 4.5 inches D. Chinese glazed porcelain figure depicting Guanyin, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, seated with a child upon her lap, an iconographic form associated with Guanyin as the Giver of Children. The figure is modeled in flowing robes with a hooded headdress, serene facial expression, lotus ornament at the chest, and finely articulated hands. The child rests prominently upon her lap, while the elaborate pierced rocky-form base incorporates sculptural details and a small vase at the rear. Finished in an ivory-white blanc-de-Chine (Dehua) style glaze with darker gray-toned accents collecting within the recessed areas, emphasizing the folds, facial details, and sculptural modeling. The reverse bears impressed seal-style marks, including a square four-character seal and an adjacent gourd-shaped mark. These marks warrant recording but, without further authentication, should not be used to assign an early date. The hollow construction, glaze, modeling, and marks suggest a 20th-century Chinese Dehua-style decorative figure, likely mid- to late 20th century, rather than an early Dehua example. Condition: Overall good condition with age-appropriate surface wear, glaze irregularities, discoloration and darkening within recessed areas. The underside is open and shows expected firing and production irregularities. No major losses are readily apparent from the photographs. Please view all photos for condition. This auction house considers the photos as the condition report.
