Itzchak Tarkay (Israeli, 1935–2012) — Lunch in the Gardens, 2008. A colorful serigraph on canvas by noted Israeli artist Itzchak Tarkay, depicting an elegant café gathering of fashionable women overlooking a harbor. Tarkays characteristic elongated figures, decorative interiors, flattened perspective, and rich palette are especially well represented in this composition. Created in 2008, the work is signed in ink and numbered on the verso, Printers Proof 18/42. The accompanying Park West Gallery documentation states that the canvas edition consisted of 42 printer’s proofs in addition to 250 regular numbered impressions, 100 artist’s proofs, and three bon à tirer impressions. An edition on paper was also produced. Accompanied by the Park West Gallery Certificate of Authenticity, original 2012 Park West appraisal, correspondence, and Tarkay informational material. The Park West appraisal assigned a retail replacement value of $2,550 in 2012. Artwork Dimensions: 17 × 26 1/2 inches. Framed Dimensions: 23 1/2 × 33 inches. Condition: Very good condition.
