Andrew Bone (Zimbabwean, b. 1957), Gemsbok Drinking, 2014. Original oil painting on canvas and a unique work, depicting a pair of gemsbok drinking at the edge of a watering hole. Hand-signed in pigment lower right, Andrew Bone. An exceptionally appealing wildlife composition demonstrating Bone’s detailed treatment of African animals, with the closely positioned gemsbok creating an intimate, almost symmetrical scene. Subtle earth tones contrast beautifully with the blue water and the animals’ distinctive black-and-white facial markings. The finely rendered coats, horns, reflections, and surrounding landscape demonstrate the artist’s accomplished naturalistic technique. Artwork Dimensions: 18 1/8 x 14 inches. Framed Dimensions: 22 x 20 inches. Presented in a high-quality, substantial gilt and dark-patinated frame with bold geometric ornamentation, linen liner, and gilt inner trim.
