RCBS 38 Special SWC 3 Die Set 18306 Group B

An RCBS three die set for 38 Special with a semi wadcutter seating plug, part number 18306, Group B, in the green RCBS box. An old Maywood Sports store sticker is on the lid. Three dies are present, a sizing die stamped 38 SIZE, an expanding die and a bullet seating die stamped SEAT. An RCBS shell holder is loose in the tray. The semi wadcutter seater plug is the detail that matters here, since the flat nose and sharp shoulder of an SWC bullet needs a plug shaped to push on the right part of the bullet instead of swaging the nose. The 38 Special with a cast semi wadcutter over a light charge is the classic target and practice load and one of the cheapest centerfire rounds a handloader can build. These are steel dies and not carbide, so cases need lube. Condition is good with bright steel, light staining and clean threads. The shell holder has surface rust and the box is soiled.
