A collection of silver gelatin photographs including studio-mounted portraits and amateur snapshots from the early 20th century. The collection features subjects in Edwardian-era attire, including men, women, and children. Several maker marks are visible on the mounts, identifying the following photographers: John Weir of 351 Byres Road, Glasgow; Claude Low of 54 Cockburn St., Edinburgh (listing additional branches in Aberdour, Portobello, and Roslin on the reverse); Poole of St. Catharines, Ontario; and Chas. B. Wilson of Welland, Ontario. The group includes two outdoor snapshots, one depicting three women standing on large timber logs in a waterway and another showing a woman leaning on a wooden fence. The portraits are presented on original cardstock mounts in various shades of gray, black, and buff, with several featuring decorative embossed borders, crests, or oval apertures. Width of top left mount approx. 13.5 cm Width of top center John Weir mount approx. 10.1 cm Width of bottom center oval mount approx. 13.5 cm Width of bottom right Claude Low mount approx. 10.5 cm (Measurements read from a visible scale). Condition: The collection shows mixed condition with visible age-related wear including bumped corners, edge fraying, and surface abrasions on the mounts. A series of dark spots is present across the torso area of the female subject in one John Weir portrait. A significant horizontal tear is visible on the right side of the large black oval mount. Silver mirroring is present in the shadowed areas of several prints, and some mounts exhibit light foxing and handling stains.
