A collection of Victorian-era studio portraits presented as albumen print carte de visite photographs mounted on cardstock backings. The group features portraits of men and a woman in formal attire, shown in various poses including profile, bust, and full-length views. The card mounts exhibit various treatments, such as coloured borders and embossed decorative frames. Several cards bear printed marks identifying the photographers, including William Notman, Photographer to Her Majesty, with studios in Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto; G. B. Murray of Brockville, Ontario; and H. W. Weber of Cornwall, Ontario. Handwritten notations are present on the cards, including 76. P. Munroe on the front margin of one mount and Mr. H. Comp on the reverse of another. Dimensions measured against a ruler: H approx. 10.2 cm x W approx. 6.4 cm. Condition: The photographs show general age-related toning, scattered foxing, and minor surface abrasions. The card mounts exhibit edge wear, bumped corners, and some staining. One card shows significant paper loss and adhesive residue on the reverse side.
