Strohmeyer & Wyman Stereoview Cards c. 1896. A pair of vintage sepia-toned albumen stereograph cards published by Strohmeyer & Wyman and distributed by Underwood & Underwood. The first card features "Majestic Pike's Peak, through the Gateway of the Garden of the Gods, Colorado, U. S. A.," showing a scenic view of red rock formations with the mountain peak in the distance. The reverse of this card contains descriptive text in six languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Swedish, and Russian. The second card, copyrighted 1896, is titled "Rob Roy at the Pier, Loch Katrine, Scotland," and depicts a steamship docked at a wooden pier on the lake. Each card bears the publisher's mark on the left margin and the distributor's information on the right margin, listing offices in New York, Liverpool, Toronto, and Ottawa, Kansas. Condition: The cards show signs of age and handling consistent with their age, including rounded corners and minor edge wear. The Colorado view has noticeable foxing and spotting throughout the sky area. The Scotland card exhibits a water stain and associated discoloration on the lower-left corner of the mount. Minor surface dust and slight fading are present on both images.
