This collection of silver-plated flatware is manufactured by Oneida under the Community Plate trade name and features the Milady pattern, first introduced in 1940. The Art Deco-inspired design is characterised by parallel vertical ribbing along the handles, terminating in a tiered end decorated with a central geometric diamond motif. The service includes dinner knives with silver-plated handles and stainless steel blades, dinner forks, dessert forks, and several types of spoons. The pieces are housed in their original fitted wooden presentation case with a burgundy anti-tarnish velvet lining. The interior lid features a gold-toned Seal-Brite anti-tarnish label and a blue-and-silver retailer label for W.A. Gadbois Watchmaker and Jeweller, Cornwall, Ontario. The set is accompanied by several glass swizzle sticks, an enamelled souvenir server, and loose wooden divider slats. Dimensions: approx. W 47 cm x D 29 cm x H 9 cm (case). Condition: The flatware shows signs of age and use, including surface scratches and moderate to heavy tarnish across many pieces. No monograms are present. The wooden presentation case shows significant wear, with substantial loss to the exterior veneer on the front corners and general scuffing to the finish. The velvet interior lining is largely intact with light fading and wear.
