Hand-carved and painted wooden shorebird sculpture by Richard Bukowski, dated 1980, modeled in a feeding pose with its long slender bill pointed downward. The bird features a softly rounded body with carved and painted brown, tan, and cream feather patterning, inset eyes, elongated metal legs and feet, and layered carved tail feathers. Mounted on a naturally weathered driftwood-style base, giving the piece a strong coastal folk-art presentation. The underside retains a handwritten inscription identifying Richard Bukowski and the date 1980. Condition shows age-related wear including scattered scratches, rubbing, minor paint loss, oxidation to the metal legs and feet, and natural cracks, checking, and wear to the wood base.Measures 5"H x 6"W x 3.5"D.
