A pair of mid-20th-century Peruvian cufflinks by maker PMD, worked in mixed metals w/ traditional Inca iconography and champleve-style enamel decoration. Each features a stepped notched rectangular sterling silver frame w/ a white-ground Greek-key meander border, cornered by small red-enamel triangles and framed by red-and-white geometric fret bands and a deep blue enameled ground. The central medallion is an applied 18-karat gold figure of the Inca Sun God Inti (also ID’d as the creator god Viracocha), rendered as a stepped tiered deity mask w/ radiating sun-ray crown, in high relief against the blue enamel field. The reverse of each face plate is stamped ‘PERU 925’ along the top edge and ‘18K PMD’ along the bottom edge, confirming the sterling silver frame w/ 18k gold central overlay and identifying the maker as PMD (a noted Peruvian silversmith). Fitted w/ toggle-bar (bullet-back) closures on hinged posts. Each face measures 1.02 in. wide x 0.91 in. tall. Total pair weight 16g. Show light polish wear to the silver frames and toggle bars, minor loss and expected surface wear to the enamel — no major chips visible in the provided images; 18k gold central figures remain bright w/ crisp detail; toggle mechanisms function on both. All items are sold as-is.
