1941 Etrusceana Rice-Weiner Gilt Buckle Hinge Cuff

A dramatic Etruscan Revival hinged buckle cuff bracelet by Rice-Weiner & Co., from the maker’s ‘Etrusceana’ line introduced c.1941. Constructed of gold-plated base metal worked to imitate ancient Etruscan gold, w/ applied granulation, canetille filigree, and pierced starburst dogwood-form floral rosettes. The oversize front is modeled as an ornamental belt buckle w/ heavy floral clusters at each corner and a central pierced buckle frame w/ radiating flower panels; opens on a hinge to a wide domed band decorated w/ alternating pierced daisy rosettes and applied granulation bead trios around the perimeter. Interior of the hinged clasp bar is stamped ‘ETRUSCEANA ©’ in a raised oval cartouche (per consignor research, Rice-Weiner’s Etruscan Revival line, introduced 1941 and promoted alongside Alexander Korda’s 1940 film ‘The Thief of Bagdad’). Buckle front 2.52 in. across at widest; band 0.94 in. wide; interior circumference approx 6 to 6.25 in. on the sizing cone, suited to a small wrist. Weight 103g. Shows wear to the gold plating w/ base metal exposed on the interior of the band and clasp bar and at isolated high points on the exterior; hinge and box tongue clasp remain functional; no bends, cracks, or missing granulation visible in the provided images.
