A group of three vintage figural brooches from distinct maker traditions. One: Russian Palekh lacquer brooch, c.1970s, hand-painted on papier-mache w/ egg tempera and gold filigree on black, depicting a scene from ‘The Little Humpbacked Horse’ (Konyok-Gorbunok) — Ivan seizing the blue mare beneath a crescent moon amid golden wheat; hinged pin; 2.20 x 1.10 in. Two: VW Wolfsburg crest hood emblem, c.1955-59, cloisonne enamel over chrome-plated brass in shield form; depicts the Wolfsburg coat of arms — wolf atop a white brick castle over wavy blue water; 3-brick castle variant is period-correct for VW Type 1 Split & Oval Window Beetles, mid-late 1950s; 19g. Three: Japanese hand-carved cream bone Three Masks brooch by Nanryu in a sterling silver frame; obverse deeply carved w/ three stacked theatrical masks (male warrior top, Noh Ko-omote middle, Okame/Otafuku bottom) over a basketweave ground; reverse hand-incised and painted w/ a peony and vertical signature ‘??’ (Nanryu); frame stamped ‘925’; 1.96 x 1.73 in. Palekh shows light surface wear and scratches; VW emblem shows nickel plating loss on reverse and light enamel scratching; bone brooch shows soft polish and mild darkening in carved recesses, no cracks visible; all pins function. All items are sold as-is.
