Vintage Handlan railroad signal lantern made for the Illinois Central Railroad, dating approximately to the 1930s-1940s. Features a black-painted metal frame stamped "I.C.R.R.," a scarce amber glass globe etched "I.C.R.R.,?? and an internal burner assembly. The underside is embossed "Handlan, St. Louis, U.S.A.?? Amber railroad globes are less commonly encountered than clear or red examples and were used for caution signaling. The frame and globe carry matching railroad markings; however, whether they were originally paired has not been verified. Operation has not been tested.
