Vintage Rock Island Lines railroad signal-department padlock manufactured by Corbin Cabinet Lock Co. of New Britain, Connecticut. Heavy brass or bronze construction with "ROCK ISLAND LINES Signal" prominently engraved on the face. Reverse carries the Corbin maker’s marking, 1907 and 1909 patent dates, and "Lubricate With Graphite. Includes a key, and the lock has been tested and works. Measures approximately 3 inches high × 2 inches wide. Circa early to mid-20th century. The patent dates identify the lock design and should not be interpreted as exact manufacture dates. Displays scratches, oxidation, patina, and wear appropriate for age and railroad service. The originality of the key has not been verified.
