Originall WWII U.S. M3 fighting or trench knife manufactured by Camillus Cutlery Company. The blade is clearly marked "U.S. M3 CAMILLUS" and features a spear-point profile with a sharpened false edge. The knife has a stacked-leather washer grip, double steel guard and steel pommel. Includes a WWII-style U.S. M6 stitched and riveted leather scabbard with steel reinforcing plate and belt hanger. The scabbard appears to bear a 1943 maker marking, although portions are difficult to read. The sheath buckle is broken and does not function properly. Measures approximately 13 inches overall in the scabbard. The knife and sheath show age and service wear, including blade scratches, sharpening, finish loss, scattered oxidation, worn and separated leather washers, scuffs, scratches and discoloration to the sheath. Initials have been scratched into the reverse of the leather scabbard. Please examine all photographs for condition. This item came from a collector’s estate.
