Vintage 1887 English mechanical open-face pocket watch featuring a substantial 50.99mm (16-size) solid sterling silver case. The dual-hinged interior caseback displays official British Chester assay office hallmarks, a gothic letter "u" 1887 date code, an official walking lion passant purity mark, a matching case serial number 4357, and a formal "WR" sponsor stamp for case maker William Robinson. The outer back cover showcases a clean engine-turned geometric weave texture surrounding a central unengraved garter-hole style shield cartouche plate. The exceptional solid silver dial showcases an intricate high-relief embossed central bouquet of flowers, raised rose gold-tone Roman numeral hour indicators, an outer dotted border ring track, a concentric-ring sub-seconds register above the 6 position, and matching blued steel hands. The watch is powered by a high-grade Swiss-made mechanical lever movement built for the English market, featuring a frosted gold-gilt plate finish carrying matching movement serial number 4357, an unadjusted balance assembly, a finely engraved balance bridge cock piece with a ruby endstone, and a curved regulatory indexing arc labeled for "FAST" and "SLOW".This mechanical watch is not running and needs a professional service to restore proper timekeeping functionality.
