Vintage 1885 Elgin National Watch Co. grade 80 mechanical open-face pocket watch featuring a heavy 18-size base metal case. The interior caseback displays a polished engine-turned finish stamped with the signature "FAHYS ORE SILVER No. 1" factory circular trademark logo, a February 19, 1884 patent date, and production serial number 6629442. The original white porcelain enamel dial showcases painted black Roman numeral hour paths, an outer track ring, a sunken sub-seconds register above the 6 o'clock mark, and block brand lettering reading "ELGIN NATL WATCH CO." The watch houses an early high-grade American-made full-plate mechanical movement carrying movement serial number 1784386, a native 15 jewels layout in screw-set chatons, a frosted gold-gilt plate finish, a lever-setting design, a Safety Pinion assembly, a Moseley regulator, a Breguet hairspring, and prominent cursive plates engraving reading "H.H. Taylor", "Elgin Ills.", and "Adjusted".This historical railroad grade mechanical pocket watch is not running, a professional service is required to operate, and extended runtime without service is not guaranteed.
