Vintage 1902 American mechanical open-face pocket watch featuring a substantial 51.65mm gold-toned base metal case. The outer caseback displays an intricate, hand-engraved floral pattern surrounding a blank shield cartouche, while the interior houses a full brass dust cap protective plate stamped "MADE IN U.S.A." alongside scratch-etched watchmaker tracking serial number 1454701. The exceptional and historically significant multi-colored pictorial cellulo-porcelain dial was custom-manufactured to commemorate the United Confederate Veterans (UCV) Reunion held in Dallas, Texas on April 22-24, 1902. The dial showcases a detailed portrait of General Robert E. Lee, an early United Confederate Veterans star badge insignia, a bald eagle perched atop a globe reading "J.I. CASE THRESHING MACHINE CO. RACINE, WIS. U.S.A.", blued steel spade hands, and bold red and green commemorative rim text tracking the event parameters. The watch is powered by a robust American-made pin-lever manual-wind utility clock caliber movement. This rare historical advertising and military commemorative pocket watch is running as of the time of listing, though a professional service is required for accurate timekeeping, and extended runtime without service is not guaranteed.
