Two hand-operated nut choppers, each built on a clear pressed glass measuring cup with a painted tin cap and a spring-loaded plunger. The original consignor listing gave these as butter churns, which the photos do not support; pressing the knob drives flat steel blades down through the jar and the spring lifts them back, the standard mid-century kitchen chopper used for nuts, hard candy, and dried fruit. (1) Orange painted cap with a red ball knob, about 8 inches tall assembled, the paint chipped to bare tin around the crown and rust on the underside of the lid. (2) White cap printed with a red starburst and black check pattern with a black knob, about 6 3/4 inches tall, also showing paint loss and rust on the cap and blade shaft. Both glass bases are embossed with measuring marks from 1/4 cup, 2 oz, up to one cup, 8 oz, and neither shows a chip or a crack; each has tan staining around the rim and inside from age. Condition is good with honest vintage kitchen wear. Not tested for function. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot.
