Ball Ideal Eagle Jar and Aqua Glass Bail Jar

Two wire bail glass storage jars. (1) A Ball Ideal jar in clear glass about 11 and one half inches tall, embossed Ball in the familiar underscored script above the word IDEAL, with its matching glass lid embossed Ball, an orange rubber sealing gasket and a working wire bail closure. The reverse is embossed with a spread-wing American eagle over a shield with a star above, the design Ball used on its 1976 Bicentennial commemorative jars. (2) An aqua tinted glass jar about 9 inches tall with a rolled shoulder, a spring-clamped metal band and wire bail, and an orange plastic screw-in lid. Condition is good on both; the Ball jar is clean with light surface scratches and a still pliable gasket, while the aqua jar has cloudy mineral haze and film on the interior that may not wash out. Wire bail jars with glass lids were made for home canning from the early 1900s into the 1960s and are bought today mostly for display and dry storage rather than for sealing. Sold as-is.
