Two Southern folk art face jugs. The left jug by Dale Costner of Vale, North Carolina features a wide stoneware body with a glossy tobacco-brown glaze, a crooked open mouth with ceramic teeth, striking yellow and blue eyes, a thick strap handle, and a secondary set of eyes extending from the cheek. The right vessel has a rich cobalt-blue glaze, large looping ears, furrowed brows, a prominent nose, and an open mouth with two ceramic teeth.
