A 2003 First Flight Centennial commemorative half dollar, proof, capsuled on the ribbon in the navy United States Mint case with its certificate. This coin is CLAD. The certificate says so in its own words, Proof Clad Half Dollar Coin, and that is worth stating plainly because buyers expect a commemorative half to be silver. It is copper nickel over a copper core, so there is no silver content and no melt figure. The obverse shows the Wright Brothers memorial pylon with 2003 clearly legible. A single small letter sits at the right end of the ground line on the reverse; it reads as a P but is too small and soft in the photographs to confirm, so we will not assert the mint mark. The coin is a deep mirror proof with frosted devices and a sharp strike, no wear, no scratches, no rim damage, capsule intact. The printed outer box that normally comes with this set was not photographed and may not be present. Estimated Value: $10 to $20. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot.
