A United States Mint 2004 Westward Journey Nickel Series coin and medal set, in its navy box and case with booklet and signed Mint certificate. Four pieces, no empty recess: a 2004-S proof Sacagawea golden dollar, two 2004-S proof Jefferson nickels in sealed capsules, and a Thomas Jefferson Indian Peace Medal. The S mint mark is clear on all three coins. Be clear on the medal: the Mint certificate states it was struck in bronze and silver plated, so it is silver PLATED bronze, not silver, with no precious metal value. All four show deep mirrored surfaces with no wear, scratches or fingerprints. A green tinted patch low on the medal bust matches a colored light reflection seen elsewhere in this consignment. No reverse was photographed, so which two 2004 nickel reverse designs are present cannot be confirmed. Worth knowing: 2004 brought the first change to the nickel reverse since 1938, marking the Lewis and Clark bicentennial. Estimated Value: $15 to $25. Sold as-is.
