Loose Pile of Lincoln Memorial Cents 1959-1982

A loose, unwrapped pile of United States Lincoln cents, all of the Memorial reverse type first struck in 1959. Every reverse readable in the fourteen photographs is the Memorial building, and no wheat-ear reverse appears anywhere, so no wheat cent claim is carried here. Readable dates include 1959, 1961, 1964, 1966, 1968, 1970 through 1974, 1976, 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1982, some with a D and some with no mint mark. Only about 25 coins can be read for date and mint. The pile was never spread flat or counted on camera, so the count is not confirmed. The visible top layer looks like roughly 130 to 170 pieces with more beneath, and the balance cannot be confirmed. Most coins are dull brown with worn high points, a minority keep red mint bloom, and carbon spots and haze are common. Green verdigris shows on at least three cents, including a 1980-D and two 1979-D pieces. Cents dated before 1982 are 95 percent copper, but melting US cents is illegal, so there is no metal value to claim. Estimated Value: $4 to $10. Sold as-is.
