1944 Belgium 2 Franc and 1943 Steel Cent (2)

Two World War Two era coins in stapled 2x2 flips, with a loose printed reference page on Belgian liberation coinage. The Belgian piece is a 1944 2 Franc in zinc coated steel, a star over BELGIQUE BELGIE on one side and 2 FR in laurel on the other, date sharp, dull gray with the granular porous surface normal for the issue, scattered dark spots and light pitting. The 1943 Lincoln cent is a Philadelphia strike with no mint mark and full detail, but it is unusually bright and uniformly chrome white with no natural gray patina, consistent with a reprocessed or replated cent. Reprocessed steel cents are worth less than original ones, and a photograph cannot settle it. Dark flecks sit on the jaw and tan discoloration rims the reverse. The flip holding the cent is annotated with wording that describes the other coin, so trust the photos over the ink. The tie between them is real: the United States struck that 2 Franc at Philadelphia on steel cent planchets for the liberation of Belgium. Estimated Value: $5 to $10. Sold as-is.
