A second 2008 Presidential $1 Coin Proof Set, complete in its original packaging. The single lens holds Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Jackson and Van Buren, all four recesses filled, all four with the Statue of Liberty reverse. Strike is strong, fields fully mirrored, portraits frosted, and no haze, spotting or fingerprints show in the photographs. The lens is clear and uncracked with no tape. The Certificate of Authenticity is present in the photographs. The outer box is present but noticeably more worn than the box on the companion lot: rub through along the printed top band, a soft crease down the left front, and bumped corners with white board showing at the upper right and lower left. Design history worth knowing: through 2008 the motto IN GOD WE TRUST sat on the edge with the date. The Mint moved it to the obverse in 2009, partly because edge lettering was missed on some 2007 dollars. Manganese brass clad, no silver. Estimated Value: $8 to $14. Sold as-is.
