A Whitman bookshelf album, number 9413, for Winged Liberty or Mercury dimes 1916 through 1945, with 74 of its 78 slots filled by 90 percent silver dimes. Read the empty holes first. The photographs show the 1916-D, 1921 and 1921-D slots on page 1 standing open, and the 1942 over 41 overdate slot open on page 3. Those four holes were most of the collector value here. What is left is a bullion lot in a book. The dimes are well circulated gray with tan and dark peripheral toning; the 1930, 1930-S and 1941-D show greenish flecks, and a few, the 1926 most of all, look brighter than their neighbors, which can mean an old cleaning a photo cannot confirm. The cover has a large dark stain at the lower right and worn spine corners. The 74 silver dimes present, 7.40 in face value, hold about 5.35 troy ounces of pure silver, near $353 at recent prices around $66 per ounce, and metal prices move, so check spot before you bid. Estimated Value: $310 to $425. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot. Written descriptions are a guide only and may contain errors. Please review all photos before bidding.
