This is a 1970 Uncirculated Mint Set, not a proof set. The photographs show one red sealed US Mint cellophane pack of six pockets holding satin business strike coins, a cent, nickel, dime, quarter and half dollar, with the Bureau of the Mint token reading UNCIRCULATED MINT SET, COINS OF THE DENVER MINT. A complete 1970 set was mailed as two packs. Only the Denver pack is here; the Philadelphia pack and the Mint envelope are not pictured. The cello is sealed at both ends with light cloudiness, and glare keeps any mint mark from reading. Why the Denver pack matters: the 1970-D Kennedy half is 40 percent silver and was never released for circulation, so the mint set was the only source for one. That half holds about $9.75 in silver at recent prices near $66 per ounce, so check spot before you bid. One caution: the small date premium bidders chase in 1970 belongs to the 1970-S cent, which came in the Philadelphia pack, so it is not in this lot. Estimated Value: $12 to $20. Sold as-is.
