1964 Kennedy Half 90 Pct Silver Toned Specks

A 1964 Kennedy half dollar in 90 percent silver, Philadelphia, with the reverse mint mark position in focus and empty. Detail is full and there is no wear, so it appears to grade uncirculated, but the luster is veiled by light golden-tan toning across both sides that runs heavier along the right side of the obverse. Defects to note: numerous small tan and rust-colored specks scattered on the obverse near LIBERTY, in the hair, on the neck and in the lower right field, a small dark fleck on the truncation, and fine flecks in the toned tan-gold reverse fields. No green corrosion and no damage. Toning like this usually comes from sulfur in paper envelopes, cardboard holders or old coin books, and it is original to the coin rather than added, which is why we would rather sell it as-is than see it dipped bright. The coin holds 0.3617 troy ounces of pure silver, roughly $23.85 at recent prices near $66 per ounce, and metal prices move, so check spot before you bid. Estimated Value: $25 to $34. Sold as-is.
