Urban Composition era Technique: Acrylic on canvas Measures: 31 × 23 inches Condition: Good overall condition. The painted surface presents strong color saturation with layered passages of red, black, blue, peach, yellow, and white. Expressive lines, inscriptions, grids, figures, and gestural markings are distributed throughout the composition. Minor surface irregularities and handling wear may be present. Presented in a black frame and display-ready. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description. Provenance: From a private collection, Atlanta, Georgia. Visual Description: A densely layered Neo-Expressionist composition combining fragmented human figures, loosely rendered anatomical forms, grids, symbols, repeated letters, partially legible words, and spontaneous gestural marks. Areas of saturated red and black are interrupted by blue, yellow, white, and flesh-toned passages, producing an energetic, graffiti-like visual field. The combination of expressive line, vivid color, figures, symbols, and text recalls elements associated with Jean-Michel Basquiat’s visual vocabulary. MoMA similarly describes Basquiat’s work in terms of expressive lines, vivid colors, figures, symbols, and other layered imagery, and documents his use of acrylic and oil stick on canvas. COLLECTOR'S NOTE: This hand-created artwork offers collectors an opportunity to enjoy the visual language, technique, composition, and artistic characteristics associated with the named artist at a substantially more accessible price point than authenticated works by that artist, which may command significantly higher prices in the established fine-art market. Offered “in the style of” the named artist, the work should be appreciated and valued on its own merits as a hand-created piece inspired by an important artistic tradition. It provides an accessible way to acquire a visually compelling artwork reflecting the aesthetic qualities associated with a celebrated artist without the price expectations attached to an authenticated work.
