Abstract Composition, 1989 era Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 31 × 24 inches Year: 1989 era Condition: Good overall condition. The painted surface presents substantial texture with layered, scraped, dragged, and blended passages of pigment. Green and pale sage tones dominate the composition, accompanied by areas of ochre, blue, black, and cream. Minor surface irregularities and handling wear may be present. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description. Provenance: From a private collection. The lower right bears an inscription appearing to read “Richter” together with the date “89.” Visual Description: A vertically oriented abstract composition dominated by atmospheric green tones. Broad areas of paint appear dragged, scraped, and displaced across the surface, revealing underlying colors and producing irregular ridges, striations, and translucent passages. Ochre along the left side contrasts with the cooler green field, while intermittent blue and black marks emerge through the layered surface. The technique recalls the process-driven abstractions for which Gerhard Richter became particularly known during the 1980s and 1990s. Museum sources document Richter's use of squeegees and scraping to apply, remove, blend, and expose successive layers of oil paint. COLLECTOR'S NOTE: This hand-created artwork offers collectors an opportunity to enjoy the visual language, technique, composition, and artistic characteristics associated with the named artist at a substantially more accessible price point than authenticated works by that artist, which may command significantly higher prices in the established fine-art market. Offered “in the style of” the named artist, the work should be appreciated and valued on its own merits as a hand-created piece inspired by an important artistic tradition. It provides an accessible way to acquire a visually compelling artwork reflecting the aesthetic qualities associated with a celebrated artist without the price expectations attached to an authenticated work.
