Title: Ochre, Yellow and Red Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 25 x 21 inches (63.5 x 53.3 cm) Year: 1952 Condition: Good condition. The painted surface presents subtle tonal variation, visible brushwork, and softly feathered edges throughout. Minor surface wear and handling marks consistent with age may be present. The canvas appears stable and display-ready, retaining its luminous coloration and overall visual presentation. Presented framed. Provenance: From a Texas-area estate. Reportedly rediscovered among framed works stored in a family residence during renovations in 1999. According to the consignor, the work had already been in the family’s possession for an undetermined period. The above provenance reflects the ownership history that accompanied the artwork at the time it was received for cataloging. Visual Description: This vertically oriented color-field composition presents three broad rectangular passages suspended against a luminous golden-yellow ground. A deep ochre-brown field occupies the upper register, separated from a glowing yellow central band by a narrow horizontal passage of pale cream. A large coral-red rectangle anchors the lower portion of the canvas. Soft, irregular edges and translucent layers of pigment allow the surrounding ground to remain visually active, creating subtle transitions between color and atmosphere. The restrained arrangement encourages prolonged contemplation of proportion, luminosity, and the emotional resonance of color.
