An American sterling silver jewellery box of circular form, manufactured by the J.K.K. Company. The hinged lid is decorated with a linear engine-turned pattern of parallel lines surrounding a central rectangular vacant cartouche. The body is supported by four scrolling foliate feet terminating in paw feet. The interior is fitted with a dark blue velvet lining featuring a curved divider, and the underside of the lid has a gilt finish. The base is stamped with the maker's mark J.K.K. Co and STERLING, alongside a series of pseudo-hallmarks imitating British silver marks, including an anchor within a circular punch, a lion passant within a square punch, and a lowercase letter p within a square punch. Dimensions: H approx. 6 cm x Diameter approx. 8.3 cm (measured against a ruler) Gross weight: 187 g. Condition: The exterior silver surfaces show significant oxidation and heavy tarnish throughout. The interior velvet lining is in good condition with only minor wear consistent with use. The hinge is functional and the lid closes securely.
