A sterling silver-mounted glass vanity jar, comprising a clear glass body decorated with an elaborate scrolling foliate silver overlay. The fitted sterling silver lid features engine-turned vertical linear decoration surrounding a central vacant shield-shaped cartouche with floral sprays. The side of the lid is stamped with the fineness marks 925 and STERLING, alongside a script letter R and a lion passant (maker and origin unconfirmed, flag for recheck). Lid weight 27 g (read from a digital scale) Height approx. 6.7 cm (read from a visible tape measure) Diameter approx. 8.9 cm (read from a visible tape measure). Condition: The silver overlay on the glass exhibits significant iridescent tarnish and oxidation. The lid shows light surface scratches and minor wear commensurate with age and use. The glass body appears intact and free of any visible chips or cracks.
