A vintage Stratton Convertible powder compact manufactured in Birmingham, England. The circular compact features a gold-tone brass body with an enamelled lid depicting a bouquet of yellow and orange roses with green leaves against a dark navy blue ground. The base is decorated with an engine-turned pattern of repeating stars and is stamped with the Stratton maker's mark and MADE IN ENGLAND. The interior contains a bevelled glass mirror, a secondary hinged inner door designed to hold either solid or loose powder, and an original pink branded powder puff. Accompanying the compact is a black fabric protective slip-case and a paper instruction insert. Diameter approx. 7.6 cm (measured against a tape measure). Condition: The compact is in good vintage condition. The enamelled lid is well-preserved with vibrant colours and no visible chips to the enamel. There are light surface scratches and minor tarnishing to the gold-tone metal surfaces. The mirror exhibits foxing and silvering loss around the perimeter. The original powder puff shows light discolouration.
