A single circular powder compact in the Damascene style, featuring a black-patinated metal exterior. The hinged lid is decorated with gold-toned inlaid motifs of cherry blossoms and foliage, framed by two sets of geometric border bands. The reverse is finished with an engine-turned design of concentric circles. The interior contains a circular glass mirror and a compartment with a mesh sifter and a pink fabric powder puff with a finger strap. The item is accompanied by a protective brown felt pouch with a whip-stitched edge. The reverse features a central circular maker's mark, which is worn and not clearly legible (recheck). Diameter approx. 7.6 cm (measured against a ruler). Condition: The compact is in good vintage condition with signs of age-related wear. The exterior shows light surface scratches and minor oxidation to the patinated metal finish, particularly on the lid and reverse. The internal mirror exhibits foxing and desilvering around the perimeter. The fabric powder puff is present and shows visible staining from previous use. The push-button catch and mechanical hinge are in functional order.
