A wooden handheld stereoscope of Holmes-pattern design, constructed with a central T-bar rail and a folding turned wooden handle. The viewer section features a curved hood assembly secured with brass-tone rivets and contains two inset square glass lenses. No manufacturer markings are visible on the stereoscope. The lot includes souvenir miniature view booklets titled Souvenir Views of Boston, Mass., 20 Views White Mts. N.H. Mt. Washington, and 20 Miniature Views Albany, N.Y. The Boston and White Mountains booklets are marked as manufactured by Tichnor Bros., Inc., Boston, Mass. and contain fold-out sequences of miniature colour-printed photographic views. Dimensions measured against a ruler: Rail length approx. 33 cm Viewer height approx. 10.2 cm Booklets approx. 10.8 cm x 8.3 cm. Condition: The stereoscope is in fair antique condition and is missing the sliding wire card-holder assembly from the central rail. The wooden body shows surface wear, minor scuffing, and age-related patina. The glass lenses are intact but appear cloudy with surface dust present. The souvenir booklets exhibit edge wear, light creasing, and surface soiling consistent with age and handling.
