Handmade folk art Tin Man figure built out of real tin cans and hardware. The head is a tall can with an aluminum kitchen funnel set on top as the hat, and a bent wire loop rises from the funnel spout. Two flattened oval cans are wired on as ears. The eyes and nose are crimped bottle caps fastened with screws, and three more bottle caps run down the chest as buttons. A small red painted wooden heart is pinned to the chest beside the top button. Arms and legs are stacked and telescoped cans wired at the joints so they hang loose and swing. Two flat sardine style cans form the feet. The whole figure is sprayed uniform silver. By the ruler it stands roughly two feet tall. Condition is good. There is light rust bleeding through the paint at several can seams and around the neck and knees, and the wire joints are loose enough that the arms move freely. Nothing is broken and nothing appears to be missing. Shows better in person than in a photo. Strong shelf, porch, entryway, or shop piece. Estimated Value: $30 to $60 based on comparable recent sales. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot. Written descriptions are a guide only and may contain errors.
