Produced by Carl Zeiss in Jena, Germany, this 6x30 military optical set features upper prism cover plate stampings reading "CARL ZEISS JENA" on the left cover, and "6x30", serial number "297238", "M", and "H/6400" on the right cover. The binoculars measure 4.5 inches high by 6.5 inches wide (11.4 cm H x 16.5 cm W) and weigh 415 grams (14.6 oz). Constructed with metal frame elements, individual focus diopters, and textured body coverings, the unit maintains smooth central hinge pivot action and smooth focusing controls on both diopters. Optical glass displays a conchoidal fracture within the left internal optical system, causing distorted viewing on that side. All components have been fully repainted, with the black paint currently chipping, cracking, and peeling away from the underlying textured body covering.
