Produced in Vienna, Austria, by Carl Zeiss Wien during the World War I era, this military periscopic panoramic sight mount base features top plate stampings reading the boxed logo "CARL ZEISS WIEN" and serial number "Nr. 272". The mount base measures5 inches high by 4.5 inches wide by 3.5 inches deep (12.7 cm H x 11.4 cm W x 8.9 cm D) with a 2.75-inch main body housing diameter (7.0 cm) and weighs 1,156 grams (2 lbs 8.8 oz). Constructed with brass and steel housing components, a vertical central mounting spindle, silvered 6400-mil azimuth scale bands, and side-mounted micrometer graduation drums, the unit maintains full mechanical movement across all adjustment controls. No spirit level or bubble indicator is present on this configuration. All field-grey/olive painted finishes remain unrestored, displaying age-appropriate paint chipping, surface wear, and exposed metal patina.
