Produced during World War II by Schneider-Kreuznach (Jos. Schneider & Co.) in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, under manufacturer ordnance code "dkl", this ordnance sight assembly features riveted tag stampings reading "dkl" above serial number "1820934". Thelower base casting features raised directional lettering reading "Ziel" with an alignment arrow. The sight assembly measures 7 inches high by 3.5 inches wide by 4 inches deep (17.8 cm H x 8.9 cm W x 10.2 cm D) and weighs 953 grams (2 lbs 1.6 oz). Constructed with cast alloy housing elements finished in factory Dunkelgelb (tan) ordnance paint, a Bakelite/composite eyepiece bezel, silvered graduation scales, and knurled control dials, the unit maintains full mechanical function across all adjustment knobs, elevation pivots, and locking levers. Viewing through the eyepiece is not functional due to internal optical obstruction/lens misalignment. All tan painted finishes and silvered scale bands remain unrestored, displaying age-appropriate paint wear, edge flaking, and light surface patination.
